A New Day Has Dawned for the Tree Production Industry!

At last, there is a pot and method that provides a way to completely eliminate circling and plunging roots in container-grown trees! This patent-pending container and production method will produce trees with a healthy root system that establish faster in the landscape. 

The nursery industry has been attempting to eliminate the problem of circling roots in trees grown in containers for many years.  Circling roots cause failure of trees in two ways:  1) the tree toppling over once planted in the landscape or 2) the eventual death of the tree due to girdling of the trunk.  When trees are grown in pots, a thick layer of roots develop on the outer layer.  As the trees grow larger, nursery staff places them into a larger pot.  At this time, the roots are usually cut on the outer layer of the root ball to prevent the continuation of circling roots.  These cuts are often not done properly or adequately.  The problem is that even if the cuts are made properly at the time, there is still the chance that there are circling roots further inside the root ball (developing from previous pot sizes), which will pose a future problem.  

Therefore, there is a genuine need in the nursery industry for a new approach to containers.  There are many types of special containers on the market that are designed to reduce or eliminate circling roots.  While some of them help, research has proven that none of these containers are completely effective against circling roots.  However, this new pot will soon be tested through a University research trial, once it is proven to be completely effective it will be released to the nursery industry.

Growers will be able to offer a superior product, landscape contractors won't be back out on the job site to upright trees that have fallen over, and most importantly, customers and the general public will be happier with safer and more vigorous trees!
